Banana genetic resources
MusaNet is a global network of stakeholders striving to ensure the long-term conservation and utilization of Musa genetic resources. It provides a collaborative framework for the implementation of the Global Strategy for the Conservation and Use of Musa Genetic Resources, which was released in 2016 and replaced the 2006 consultative document.
The network is coordinated by Bioversity International.
The structure of MusaNet consists of a Coordinating Secretariat, an Expert Committee (in which ProMusa and the regional banana networks are represented) and five Thematic Groups (Diversity; Evaluation; Information and Documentation; Conservation and Genomics).
A Taxonomic Advisory Group, composed of 12 experts with expertise across the range of Musa diversity, provides technical advice.
