The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), has developed the first online IUCN Red List Training Course: Assessing Species' Extinction Risk Using IUCN Red List Methodology. Hosted on TNC’s ConservationTraining website, this course is free and open to anyone who wishes to learn more about the IUCN Red List. It consists of 7 modules: introduction to the IUCN Red List, Red List assessments, categories and criteria, supporting information for assessments, mapping protocols, species information service, and regional assessments. The course also includes an exam to test the participants' knowledge of the Red List, the assessment process, and their skills in calculating the various parameters used in the assessments. Passing the exam will entitle participants to a certificate to prove that they have successfully completed the course.
