Home InfoMus@

Welcome to InfoMus@, the electronic newsletter of the banana and plantain research and development community. Managed by Bioversity International, on behalf of ProMusa and the ISHS Section on Banana and Plantain, its aims are twofold: inform readers of the latest news and breakthroughs, and spark discussions on topical issues.

We need your help to make sure we don’t miss something important. If you want to make a suggestion or contribute an item to any of the sections below, contact InfoMusa ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

The News section will announce recent developments, such as an upcoming publication, a new Musa species, the discovery of a gene, the progress of a disease, or any topic that might interest the Musa community. Submissions should be no longer than 600 words.

Items in the Features section take a deeper look at a current issue and have no length limit. Experts will be invited to contribute feature articles, but anyone can submit a text.

Readers can make their views known by commenting on the items posted or by submitting an Opinion piece. Discussions can be continued in MusaTalk, ProMusa’s discussion forum, which we will monitor to report back on the most noteworthy exchanges.

The In pictures section uses photos to tell a story while the Regional network news provides access to the newsletters produced by the various banana regional R&D networks. MediaWatch links to news on banana found in online media.

Registered users receive a quarterly email alert directing them to new items. To subscribe or unsubscribe to the newsletter, contact the ProMusa secretariat ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

A table of contents of the most recently added articles can be found under Latest postings.
