use of the banana plant for experimentation
Dear all,
Since multiple shoots on cytokine multiplication medium are used for experiments on banana, (after hardening), the number of times an experiment can be repeated depends on the number of multiple shoots for each line. I would like to know whether it is ok if the same hardened plant can be used for multiple experiments for e.g. DNA extraction, RNA extraction etc. that require cutting of leaves many times from the same plant, for lines that do not give multiples, but still need to be tested. I am wondering if the plant's wounding response will significantly alter the metabolism and so be a cause of wrong experimental design. I would be grateful for suggestions on how to proceed.
