Banana cue
Banana cue, or also banana Q or banana kyu (Tagalog), is a popular snack food or street food in the Philippines. It refers to skewers of deep-fried bananas, traditionally of the Saba (Cardaba) cultivar.
Preparation
Frying oil is poured into a frying pan and heated over medium low heat 1 . The bananas are placed in the oil and fried for a few minutes. Brown sugar is added, and the bananas are gently stirred until they are coated with the caramelized brown sugar. The deep golden sugar-coated bananas are removed from the oil, drained in a strainer or on a paper towel and served on bamboo skewers. The banana cue is thus not cooked on the skewer, as opposed to ginanggang 2 .
